How to be preppy on the golf course

Hello Blog Readers!

I’ve been meaning to this for a long time now so I’m sharing my tips on how to be preppy at the golf course. I’ve been golfing for a few years now and I’m finally getting the hang of it. Believe it or not but there are very few trendy golf lines for women. So hopefully my guide will help especially for beginners!

1. Top – I like to keep the top plain and simple but also light and dri-fit especially for those hot summer days. I use Nike or Lady Hagen tops you can find at Dick’s or any sporting store.

2. Bottoms- I need a pop of color so I usually go for bright colors and patterned bottoms. I typically wear bermuda shorts, skorts, or skirts. I like wearing any Lilly Pulitzer shorts or performance bottoms from Vineyard Vines. If you want trendy golf skirts check out Sydney Elizabeth.

3. Hat- I try to wear a hat as much as possible. I would typically wear Vineyard Vines, Titleist, or Nike. I like to wear a visor so it doesn’t mess up my hair. Always bring a hair tie and avoid white hates if possible. (unless you want it to turn green and yellow)

4. Sunglasses- I rock my raybans throughout the course. I like to wear them on my head when I swing because it actually helps me to keep my head down.

5. Shoes- It is very important to wear golf shoes. You can buy shoes with spikes buy them spikeless. I personally like the spikeless ones because they are more comfortable to me especially when you’re walking off the course and to your car. Nike has some awesome flyknit golf shoes but if you’re on a budget, FootJoy is a good brand.

6. Golf Balls- I don’t mind using any type of golf balls because I’m no pro but I do prefer the supersoft Callaway balls because they’re not too expensive. You can also customize titleist golf balls by putting your monogram on it.

7. Tees- I still get made fun of using these plastic tees because it’s such a newbie thing to use but they have lasted me many rounds without breaking!

8. Gloves- Gloves are so important. I have three pairs in my bag because they wear quickly especially the all white ones. Footjoy gloves have lasted the longest for me but if you want funky patterns, check out Gloveit.

Best of luck!

Preppy in New York

Hello NYC,

We have a love/hate relationship. I went to NYC for the weekend for my best friend’s birthday and stayed at the Lexington Hotel. Of course there are tons of things to do in New York and yes, shopping and eating were our top priorities.

First stop: Brunch at the Lexington Brass. Great food but mediocre service.

Drinking a bellini is a great way to start the day. Cheers.

I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict with caviar. #fancy

  All great food!

We went shopping on 5th avenue then went over to the 9/11 Memorial musuem. Here’s a tip: buy your ticket online in advanced. The ticket booth lines were ridonkulous.

There’s not much to say because you have to experience it for yourself. It’s a must see. Warning: wear waterproof mascara and bring a handkerchief. It was very crowded but it didn’t phase me. The heartfelt emotion will effect you no matter what. #neverforget

We went shopping again and I went to Vineyard Vines where I bought a VV New york t-shirt.

Then off to dinner at a Filipino restaurant called Maharlika. I recommend the spam fries and taro cheesecake. Ah-mazeballs.
Wishing this beaut the happiest birthday! After dinner we went to a lounge where Pusha-T was performing. (I had no idea who he was at the time haha)

The next day we went to brunch and walked around the Rockefeller Center. I didn’t know NYC was so big on Easter because they closed off parts of 5th avenue to celebrate it.

This seersucker trench coat is made by Tommy Hilfiger from Marshalls for $70. If you can’t find it at your local Marshalls, you can get it from Macy’s for $179.50.

We concluded our trip by eating macarons from Bouchon Bakery in front of the ice skating rink.

Great weekend with my friends. Until we meet again New York…

Philly girl goes to Nashville

Hey Ya’ll,

I went to visit my best friend, Samantha in Nashville for Thanksgiving. I’ve never been to the Music City before. I love the good food, music, and positive vibes! I’ll definitely be back.

Explore: Downtown Nashville- booze, music, and southern food.    Batman Building!

Downtown is also where the Johnny Cash Museum and the Country Music Hall of Fame are located.

You can even see the Titans’ stadium  from downtown.

The famous Tootsies! Live music on all three floors! We ordered food there and I loved their BBQ pulled pork sandwich, fried pickles, and fried string beans.

Shop: Boutiques everywhere especially at the Golch! My favorite boutique was Blush because it was affordable and more of my style. However, I did like Two Old Hippies because they had a live band at the back of the store and E.Allen because I got an awesome reversible poncho that I wore the next day. Sam and I bought it because it was too cute and 20% off because of Small Business Saturday. Everyone complimented the poncho everywhere I went that day and I had a conversation with at least one person at every store because they were all so friendly!

I had to stop by the Green Hills shopping center too. We had to go to the Kendra Scott store because Sam and I are obsessed with her stuff. Everything in the store was 15% off and they gave us complimentary champagne. I purchased a turquoise ring and the Elisa necklace in white. The ladies were so helpful and sweet. It was a great experience.

(The poncho)

Vineyard vines! I bought a plain long sleeve t-shirt that had Nashville on the back and two complimentary VV stickers.

Food: I love food and every spot we checked out was so good. At night we went to 12 South. We went to Urban Grub, Embers Ski Lodge, and Bartaco. We had delicious tacos at Bartaco. I ordered the duck, spicy chorizo, and sesame ribeye. All of my tacos were really good but I was told that the pork belly and the Baja fish were the favorites.

Biscuit love was my first brunch stop. You order your food in line, then they’ll show you to your table. I order the Southern hot chicken one called the Princess. Sam ordered the Southern Benny.

I had it without the mustard. It was sweet and spicy because of the honey.

My favorite brunch place was the famous, Loveless Cafe.

Sam was told that the wait would be long but we went on a Monday afternoon and the wait was only 5 minutes. I wanted everything on the menu. Of course we ordered breakfast food. I got the Pit-cooked Pork BBQ and two eggs with home fried potatoes. Sam ordered the Biscuit Sampler – which I highly recommend so you can have a little of everything!

Pecan, chess, and fudge pie for dessert!  I ended up buying their jam from the airport but you can always order it online!

Until next time, Nashville!
