Target blazers for spring season

It’s hard to think about the spring when we’re still getting snow but fashion is always a season ahead. I went to Target and found myself two awesome blazers. They will be a must have for the spring so don’t miss out. They can both be worn for a casual day out with friends or even for business attire to work.

Striped Navy and White blazer $29.99

The shoulder looks weird because of the shoulder pads. The material is stretchy so it’s important to not shrink it.

This one caught my eye as soon as I walked into the section. Unfortunately, it’s not available online. I would wear this with a bright solid shirt underneath.

Galentine’s Day excitement

Three weeks until Galentine’s Day! If you’re not sure what that means, it’s from Parks n Rec. It’s a day for women to celebrate women. I’m not a feminist but it’s a great idea to remind the awesome ladies in your life that they’re special. Invites are out and now I’m just looking for inspiration to think of creative party favors. Anyone have suggestions? Share some ideas.

Stay tune for updates on my Galentine’s Day event.

Q & A

So I’ve been nominated by Kelsey @ Young Wild Wife to answer a few questions! Thanks for the tag and I hope everyone will learn a little bit more about me.

1. What was the inspiration that led you to start your blog?

To be honest, my brother suggested that I should create one. I’ve always thought about it but one day we were at the mall and he told me he would help me and he actually did. So he inspired me. (Ew)

2. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?

I love being able to share my ideas or inspire someone’s outfit. I like to believe that I’m creative so my DIY projects can influence others to do their own or even help someone style their clothes differently.

3. What is one of your New Year’s Resolutions? How are you doing so far?

I never keep them so I just avoid them all together.

4. What inspires you?

Other bloggers of course! Everyone is so friendly and helpful to help me find exactly what I want or need.

5. What is your favorite place you’ve ever visited and why?

My favorite city is definitely Boston because of the collegiate environment, the wicked awesome people, the rich history, and the plethora of amazing clothing stores.

6. What, besides blogging, are you passionate about?

I’m a political junkie. I love government, politics and I’m currently pursing my Master in Public Administration.

7. Where have you travelled lately?

I was just in Boston this past weekend but I’ll be back this summer.

8. Muffin or donut?

Donut- for no real reason.

9. What is your favorite book?

Good question, I’m not a typical reader. I love reading biographies, books on politics, and history. I would say, I loved…

Pearls, Politics, and Power- Madeleine Kinin
Bossy Pants- Tina Fey

10. What is your favorite piece in your closet?

Right now, I would say it would have to be my herringbone Jcrew vest. It’s warm, versatile, and easy to wear.

11. Where is your favorite place to shop?

I have many favorite stores but I really like H&M because I can always find something cute and affordable for either work, home, or for going out.

Frost Ice Bar in Boston

I’ve never heard of an ice bar until my friend Amanda saw a sign at Faneuil Hall so we bought tickets at the kiosk. It was a great experience and it was totally “cool.” There are only 8 of these places and I’m glad I got to experience it.

They give you a cape and a badge to charge your account so you don’t have to carry cash. They take pictures of you and you can sip on some pricey drinks but they pour it into this really cool cup made out of ice. The music was good and the ice sculptures were awesome. Check out some of my photos. Bad lighting*

Hunter boots in mint

I’ve been in search for Tiffany blue or mint green Hunter boots for so long. I’ve checked every site including eBay, poshmark, and tradesy. So two weeks ago I stumbled on Nordstrom.com. They have the boots I wanted but it was for kids. I can typically wear a 6 in kids but I remembered that Hunters run big. So even though I’m a size 7.5/8 in women’s I was able to still fit a size 5 in kids. Also, it’s a lot cheaper than getting it in adult size. Win-win.

Buy them before they sell out. I bought the tourmaline green ones but they have other great colors too. So you’re welcome!

Galentine’s Day invites

I’m hosting my first annual Gal-entine’s Day brunch. If you’re a fan of Parks and Rec then you know what I’m talking about. It’s a day for the ladies to get together and empower each other. So I’m inviting my girlfriends to brunch at a restaurant to talk about many topics including (but not limited to) politics, love, and life.

An invite sets the bar for your event so I’ve decided to do something different. I made a simple scratch off invite.

Things you’ll need:
1) Card stock
2) Template (I created my own circles)
3) White crayon
4) Metallic acrylic paint
5) Dish soap
6) Paintbrush

1) Put your template on cardstock or write your own invite using a sharpie.
I created my own on word.

2) Use a white crayon to cover the part you would like to be revealed. Be sure to smooth it out before you add the paint.

3) Use two tablespoons of acrylic paint (metallic color will work best) and one tablespoon of dish soap and mix it. Paint over the part that you colored in with white crayon.

4) It’s important to let it completely dry. It can take up to an hour. Then send them to your friends. :)

I can’t wait to celebrate! Thanks for reading and don’t forget to treat yoself!

The return of the turtleneck

So I didn’t think I would wear a turtleneck top again. It reminds me of the embarrassing late 90’s outfits that I was forced to wear. Styles are cycled and sooner or later bell bottoms will be cool again. (Yikes)

So I decide to buy this Old Navy turtleneck sweater. It is now on sale for $17.97.

So I tried four different ways to wear this sweater. It turns out that the sweater is pretty versatile. You can dress it up or dress it down. Use a vest, a peacoat, a statement necklace, or a blazer to wear with the sweater. I kept it simple without using too many patterns because I wanted my accessories to stand out.

I want to try it with a denim jacket and a field jacket but maybe next time. What are some ways you would wear a turtleneck seater?

Space saving tips

So I’m sure everyone is on Pinterest and we love it. I’m not sure how I lived life without it for so long. I picked my favorite space saver tips for my closet. Check them out!

Use a lid rack to line up your clutches and wallets to display and neatly organize. You can pick one up from your local target or check out amazon for less than $15.

I use a pant/skirt hanger for my boots. I don’t have enough room on my shoe rack but this will help keep your boots organized. I got this hanger set from Ross but you can find them at Marshalls or TJ Maxx for less than $10.

This last one is a little, for lack of a better word, ghetto. I have tons of these hangers from Target and I really don’t want to clutter my closet with all of these hangers so I found a way to increase space! Get soda/beer tabs and connect your hangers vertically. It’s best to organize by color. It made me realize that I have way too many of the same shirts.

Share some of your space saving ideas, I’m always looking for better ways to utilize the space I have.

Preppy sweater inspiration

I follow many awesome bloggers and they inspire some of my outfit ideas. I saw this sweater on Krista Robertson and I wanted it immediately. It took a while for me to find my size but three H&M stores later, I did. I wore this sweater with a chambray shirt from Jcrew, leggings, and riding boots. You can also find a duplicate one in a different color at Forever21.
